Family Support Worker - Part Time 5 Days per week (12.5 hours) Monday -  Thursday 9:30am - 12:00pm (Term time only)

Job Summary

This role focuses on building strong relationships between school and home to improve pupils' attendance, wellbeing, and educational outcomes. The postholder works closely with parents, carers, school staff, and external agencies to identify and remove barriers to learning through early intervention, family support, and safeguarding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attendance Leadership: Act as the school's Attendance Officer, monitoring attendance, identifying concerns early, analysing attendance data, supporting vulnerable pupils, meeting with families, conducting home visits, and ensuring compliance with attendance procedures and legal requirements.
  • Family Support: Build positive relationships with parents and carers, provide personalised support, implement action plans, promote parental engagement, signpost families to local services, and support transitions and access to external support.
  • Multi-Agency Working: Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, safeguarding leads, and external professionals to coordinate interventions, complete referrals and Early Help assessments, and ensure families receive appropriate support.
  • Safeguarding: Promote children's welfare by following safeguarding procedures, recording concerns accurately on CPOMS, supporting families facing challenges, and working in line with statutory guidance and data protection legislation.
  • Data and Administration: Maintain accurate records, produce reports, analyse attendance and intervention data, manage correspondence, and complete statutory documentation for internal and external agencies.
  • School Contribution: Support the school's vision, promote inclusive practices, raise awareness of attendance and wellbeing, provide guidance to staff and families, and participate in ongoing professional development.
