About this Role

We are a fully inclusive school and proud to follow ‘The Mary Bassett Way’. Our school is welcoming and happy and we all aim to be the best we can be whilst helping each other to achieve great things. The children make positive behaviour choices and enjoy a creative curriculum with real life opportunities provided to enhance their learning experience. We are lucky to have a beautiful site with many opportunities for outdoor learning throughout all year groups. We have high expectations for our children, whilst at the same time providing a calm and caring environment where all children are nurtured and supported.

Core Purpose:

This role involves delivering high-quality lessons, maintaining a positive and engaging classroom environment, and supporting the academic and personal development of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Create and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the needs of individual students, considering their physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assess and document students’ progress, using this data to inform your teaching strategies and ensure all students meet their targets.
  • Feedback and Goal Setting: Provide both oral and written feedback on students' work, helping them set and review goals for improvement.
  • Collaboration with Support Staff: Work closely with teaching assistants to effectively support learning in the classroom.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain high behavioural expectations and promote a positive, safe learning environment.
  • Communication and Reporting: Report on students’ development and progress to parents, colleagues, and external agencies as needed.
  • School Community Engagement: Foster positive working relationships within the school community, promoting collaboration and mutual support.
  • School Participation: Actively contribute to the broader life of the school by attending staff and team meetings and supporting school initiatives.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Passion for Teaching: Has a genuine passion for teaching and a commitment to helping all students succeed.
  • Effective Individualised Teaching: Can effectively teach a class of 30 students, providing personalised learning experiences.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Possesses excellent communication skills and can create a positive classroom environment.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Is able to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the overall success of the school.

What We Offer:

  • Professional Development: Access peer reviews, school improvement support, and personalised professional development through the Agora Learning Partnership.
  • Supportive Staff Environment: Join a welcoming and collaborative staff with a focus on staff wellbeing, including protected time after school on several days each week.
