About this Role

Finance Officer – Sheerhatch Primary School

Sheerhatch Primary School is seeking a skilled, organised and proactive Finance Officer to play a vital role in supporting the smooth and effective running of our school. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated and values-driven school community, where children are at the heart of every decision and high standards are expected in all aspects of school life.

The Finance Officer will be responsible for managing the school’s financial processes, ensuring accurate budgeting, monitoring expenditure and income, and maintaining robust financial controls in line with local authority and statutory requirements. Working closely with the Headteacher and senior leaders, the post holder will provide clear financial information and advice to support strategic planning and informed decision-making.

We are looking for someone with strong financial experience, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to work independently while also being a collaborative member of the wider school team. The successful candidate will be highly organised, discreet and able to manage competing priorities in a busy school environment.

At Sheerhatch Primary School, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, supportive and inspiring school.  In return, we offer a positive working environment, professional respect, and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the education and wellbeing of our children.

Sheerhatch Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful applicant will be required to undergo appropriate safeguarding checks, including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.  Online checks will be carried out in line with statutory guidance.  References will be taken up prior to appointment, and the role is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education.
