About this Role

Due to a member of our team achieving a promoted role in another school, we are excited to offer this opportunity to join Kingsmeadow Community School. The successful candidate will be joining a supportive and experienced team. The year group to which this Head of Year is assigned will be open to discussion, taking into account the needs of year groups and skill sets within the team. This is in line with our annual year group and pastoral lead review

The development of the non-teaching pastoral team at Kingsmeadow Community School has been integral to our ongoing improvements in student behaviour, attendance and outcomes. We have invested significantly in our pastoral support team over the past year, both in terms of staffing and of professional development and this is continuing.

The Heads of Year are the core pastoral support and point of contact for students and their families. They are highly skilled individuals with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in ensuring the best possible educational experience for young people. Managed by teaching leaders, they liaise skilfully with teaching staff to promote academic excellence for all students. They are also the conduit for student mental health and wellbeing support, promoting positive learning behaviours linked to our core values of integrity, resilience and respect.

The role comes with substantial school-led development and the expectation of a personal commitment to seeking personal professional development opportunities.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated, hard-working and driven who has:

An ability to build strong collaborative relationships with pupils and staff.

An understanding of the impact that excellent student support has on enhancing the educational experience and academic outcomes of children.

        Effective communication skills.

An organised, practical and common-sense approach to work.

An unwavering belief in the power of education to open future doors of opportunity for every child.

In return, we can offer:

A commitment to managing staff workload and wellbeing.

A friendly and supportive working environment.

A commitment to opportunities for your professional development.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged prior to submitting an application.
