Penn Fields School is a vibrant and nurturing
specialist provision committed to supporting children and young people with a
wide range of special educational needs. We are seeking a dedicated and
compassionate Student Engagement Team Member to join our expanding
pastoral team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone
who is passionate about improving the lives of young people, supporting their
emotional development, and helping them overcome barriers to learning. The role
is central to ensuring students are regulated, supported, and ready to learn
throughout the school day.
The Role
As a Student Engagement Team Member, you will:
- Deliver a range of 1:1 and small-group pastoral interventions,
including mentoring, emotional regulation support, restorative approaches,
and swimming sessions.
- Build strong, positive relationships with students, acting as a
trusted and consistent adult.
- Support students during unstructured times such as playtime and
lunchtime.
- Work proactively with colleagues, the Safeguarding Team,
parents/carers, and multi-agency professionals to share information and
coordinate support plans.
- Contribute to a trauma-informed, restorative school culture.
- Maintain accurate records, monitor progress, and help develop
intervention strategies.
- Respond flexibly to emerging needs, including de-escalation and
positive handling where required (training provided).
- Participate in staff CPD, including co-delivering training
alongside the Student Engagement Team Lead.
What We’re
Looking For
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and Level 2 English & Maths.
- Experience supporting learners with SEND, particularly Speech,
Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
- Strong teamwork, communication and record-keeping skills.
- Emotional resilience and the ability to deliver pastoral
interventions effectively.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and the wellbeing of all
pupils.
- Willingness to undertake training in Positive Handling and First
Aid.
Desirable:
- Experience of trauma-informed practice.
- Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and annual review
processes.
- Experience using restorative approaches in schools.
