This post will be part time, 1 day per week (0.2 FTE)
The school is looking to appoint a well-qualified, excellent practitioner to deliver high-quality
one-to-one and small group lessons in keyboard and voice, with the possibility of teaching
drums and guitar if able. The tuition will be delivered separately from the standard curriculum,
offering pupils additional opportunities to develop their musical skills.
The successful candidate should be a musician and teacher of imagination and commitment,
able to teach piano and voice, and keen to work with pupils of all abilities in a well-resourced
and forward-thinking department.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- To undertake duties as described in the current School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document.

The post is otherwise subject to the Conditions of Service for School Teachers in England and
Wales, and subsequent Orders in terms of duties and working time, also any local agreements,
LA Circulars and guidelines giving interpretations of teachers’ conditions of service.
- To fulfill the Teachers’ Standards in England as published by the Department for Education.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- To provide either small group or individual tuition in vocal studies or a musical
instrument.
- Plan and prepare a course of lessons appropriate to the skill of each pupil.
- Teach group or individual lessons according to the timetable.
- Prepare pupils for examination by external boards, where required.
- Provide or contribute oral and/or written assessments and reports on individual pupils or
groups of pupils.
- Communicate and consult with parents on pupil matters relating to their tuition or
examination entry.
- A willingness to contribute to music life at the school is essential; preparing pupils for
concerts, assemblies and festivals, as appropriate.
