Essential
Skills:
- Ability to
support the personal care needs of pupils, in line with Local Authority
guidance where required
- Experience
working with pupils who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Confidence in
delivering planned, personalised, and multi-sensory learning activities
based on pupils’ EHCP outcomes, under the direction of the Class Teacher
- Confident in providing effective 1:1 support to pupils
- Confident in using technology to support the Class Teacher to capture learning and progress.
- Ability to
maintain effective ongoing communication and regular review processes
between home and school
Desirable
Skills:
- Experience
working with children with complex communication needs, including autism
- Experience
supporting non-verbal learners
- Knowledge and
experience in delivering multi-sensory approaches to learning
- Training or
experience in early communication strategies, such as Intensive
Interaction, Makaton, Attention Autism (Bucket), and activities to develop
communication and language (e.g. copying games, choice-making, matching
activities)
- Experience
supporting children with sensory processing difficulties
- Training in safer
handling approaches (e.g. Team Teach)
