About this Role

About this Role

Bournville Village Primary School is a large, forward-thinking three-form entry primary school in South Birmingham, with a strong commitment to inclusion and doing the very best for every child.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated SENDCo to lead and further develop our SEND provision. This is a key leadership role within the school, working closely with SLT to ensure that our inclusive ethos translates into consistently high-quality provision for all learners.

You will be joining a school that values clarity, structure and doing things properly — where SEND is not an add-on, but central to how we think about teaching, learning and support.

This role is well-supported and set up to succeed, including:

  • A dedicated SEND Assistant to support administration, coordination and organisation
  • Clearly protected leadership time to allow you to focus on strategic SEND development, casework and collaboration
  • A leadership team that understands the realities of the role and works alongside you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and can apply it effectively in a busy school context
  • Is confident leading SEND across a large primary setting and supporting staff to deliver high-quality inclusive practice
  • Can balance strategic leadership with operational detail, ensuring systems are robust, efficient and compliant
  • Builds positive, professional relationships with pupils, families and external agencies
  • Is an excellent communicator, able to challenge, support and influence colleagues
  • Is highly organised, able to prioritise effectively and keep things moving forward
  • Is committed to ensuring that all children, regardless of need, can thrive and succeed

The role will include:

  • Leading and managing SEND provision across the school
  • Working closely with SLT to shape and drive inclusive practice
  • Overseeing EHCP processes, reviews and external agency engagement
  • Supporting and developing staff to deliver high-quality adaptive teaching
  • Ensuring systems, documentation and provision are clear, consistent and effective
  • Line managing and working alongside the SEND Assistant and BVPS Teaching Assistants

We offer:

  • A school that is ambitious, reflective and always improving
  • A strong, supportive staff team who work collaboratively
  • High quality CPD in line with our school development priorities and with opportunities personal progression and development
  • Leadership that is visible, pragmatic and solution-focused
  • Well-structured systems and a commitment to reducing unnecessary workload
  • Protected time and operational support to allow you to lead effectively
  • Children who are enthusiastic, respectful and proud of their school
  • A genuine commitment to staff wellbeing, including a comprehensive support programme
  • A school community built on our values: Respect, Challenge, Collaboration, Integrity, Responsibility and Compassion
