About this Role

Join Us on an Exciting and Innovative Journey

We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Head Teacher – Inclusion Leader & SENDCo to join our ambitious and forward‑thinking leadership team. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a dynamic, passionate, and highly skilled professional to make a profound and lasting impact on the lives of children, families, and staff.

At our school, inclusion is not an add‑on—it is at the very heart of who we are. We believe every pupil deserves to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, and we are committed to ensuring that all children—particularly those who are vulnerable or have additional needs—receive an outstanding education. As we continue our innovative journey of school improvement and transformation, we are looking for a leader who shares our vision of excellence for all.

About the Role

As Assistant Head Teacher and Inclusion Leader, you will take a central role in shaping our whole‑school approach to inclusion, SEND, safeguarding, and pastoral care. You, as a non-class based leader, will contribute to strategic decision‑making, drive high‑quality provision, and lead a dedicated team to secure the best possible outcomes for every learner.

This is a role for an inspirational leader with the passion to champion equity, the strategic insight to influence positive change, and the professional integrity to model outstanding practice. You will work closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, playing an instrumental role in shaping the school’s future direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development of SEND and inclusion across the school, ensuring an ambitious vision aligned with our School Development Plan.
  • Champion high‑quality teaching, tailored support, and effective interventions to meet diverse pupil needs.
  • Oversee statutory and strategic responsibilities related to the SEND Code of Practice, Equality Act 2010, safeguarding and the wellbeing of all pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, families, external agencies, and governors to secure strong progress for vulnerable groups.
  • Line manage and develop the inclusion and support staff team, promoting a culture of professional excellence and reflective practice.
  • Serve as a Designated Safeguarding Lead and the Designated Teacher for Looked‑After Children.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive ethos where every pupil is supported to succeed and flourish.

What We Are Looking For

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Are an experienced, knowledgeable, and inspiring leader of SEND/Inclusion.
  • Have a deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, statutory responsibilities, and effective practice in supporting diverse learners.
  • Are an excellent communicator who can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families, staff, and partners.
  • Can analyse data confidently to drive improvement and evaluate impact.
  • Thrive on collaboration, innovation, and problem‑solving.
  • Are resilient, reflective, professional, and deeply committed to making a difference.
  • Are ready to join a school on an exciting, ambitious journey—where your influence will be significant and highly valued.

Why Join Us?

  • A real opportunity to shape the future of inclusion and SEND provision across the whole school.
  • A supportive and forward‑thinking Senior Leadership Team.
  • A commitment to your professional development and ongoing leadership growth.
  • The chance to be part of a school where your creativity, insight, and values will help drive meaningful change.
  • A vibrant community that places children’s wellbeing and success at the centre of everything we do.

How to Apply

We warmly welcome visits and conversations with prospective candidates. If you are excited by this opportunity and believe you have the vision, skills, and passion to help lead our inclusive journey, we would be delighted to hear from you.
