Are you an inspiring singing teacher
with a passion for developing young vocalists? Surbiton High School is seeking
a talented Singing VMT to join our vibrant and ambitious Music Department.
With over 400 individual lessons delivered each week and a thriving
programme of ensembles and concerts at prestigious venues such as Cadogan Hall
and Sinfonia Smith Square, our department is a hub of musical excellence.
Choral music holds a particularly high profile within the school, and we are
keen to appoint a candidate with a strong interest in this area.
What you’ll do:
• Deliver high-quality individual singing lessons to pupils aged 8–18, from
beginner to advanced
• Plan engaging and creative lessons that inspire and challenge students
• Monitor pupil progress, maintain attendance records, and provide regular
feedback to pupils and parents
• Support pupils in preparing for performances, examinations, and wider musical
opportunities
• Contribute to the wider musical life of the school, including concerts,
ensembles, and events
What we’re looking for:
• A good honours degree (performance or teaching preferred, but not essential)
• Proven experience of high-quality instrumental or vocal teaching across a
range of ages and abilities
• Strong communication, organisational, and administrative skills
• A collaborative approach and the ability to build positive relationships with
pupils, staff, and parents
• A passion for music education and a commitment to fostering a culture of
excellence
