About this Role

Fortismere School is looking to appoint an ARP (Autism Resource Provision) Teaching Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to join us on an exciting new journey. Launching in September 2026, our brand-new Autism Resource Provision (ARP) will support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

While this is a specialised provision, you will not be working in isolation. At Fortismere, inclusion is a whole-school commitment; you will be backed by a supportive leadership team, the ARP Lead, and a collaborative staff community dedicated to making this new provision a success.

The successful candidate will work closely with the ARP Lead, teaching staff, and wider SEND team to support students in overcoming barriers to learning, developing independence, and achieving their full potential. The role will include supporting small-group and 1:1 learning, delivering targeted interventions under guidance, promoting emotional regulation and wellbeing, and helping students access the curriculum through adapted and neuro-affirming approaches.

We are looking for a caring, resilient, and proactive individual who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to supporting young people with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate patience, flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and external professionals.

The successful candidate will have the ability to:

  • Support students with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and other SEND needs within lessons, interventions, and the wider school environment
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with students while promoting confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals
  • Support the delivery of small-group and 1:1 interventions under the guidance of teaching staff and the ARP Lead
  • Adapt support strategies to meet individual learning, communication, sensory, and emotional regulation needs
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring student progress and support plans
  • Work flexibly and use initiative within a busy and dynamic school environment
  • Contribute positively to the inclusive ethos and wider life of the school

We can offer:

  • A welcoming, supportive, and collaborative working environment
  • A highly experienced and dedicated SEND and ARP team
  • Ongoing professional development, including SEND and neurodiversity-informed training
  • Opportunities to develop expertise within specialist inclusive provision
  • Pension scheme, Cycle Scheme, Season Ticket Loan, Tech Scheme, and Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Happy, motivated students who enjoy learning and being part of the school community
  • A committed Governing Body and experienced leadership team

Fortismere School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
