About this Role
Permanent, Part-Time, Term-Time only
Salary: £29,968 gross pay per annum (full time, full year equivalent)
Whitgift is
one of Britain’s leading independent boarding and day schools for boys aged
between 10 and 18 years, with approximately 1500 pupils and over one hundred
boarding or flexi-boarding pupils. It is
set in an attractive 48-acre parkland site in South Croydon enjoying excellent links to London, Surrey and the south coast.
We are seeking to appoint a caring, organised and approachable Assistant Matron to support the Matron and Senior Housemaster in providing a safe, welcoming and nurturing boarding environment. This varied role combines pastoral care, student welfare and healthcare support with day-to-day boarding house administration, helping to ensure that boarders feel happy, supported and at home. The successful candidate will build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues, whilst promoting high standards of wellbeing, safeguarding and care.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to manage a busy and varied workload, and a compassionate approach to supporting young people. Experience working with children or in an educational, residential or pastoral setting would be advantageous, as would knowledge of safeguarding, medication administration and housekeeping operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is committed to making a meaningful contribution to the wellbeing and success of boarding students.
In return, we offer a generous salary and benefits package, including a money purchase pension scheme (with Life Assurance), access to an Employee Discount Club, membership of a healthcare plan, discounted school fees for permanent posts within the Foundation, and a supportive working environment with opportunities for training and development.
We welcome applications from all parts of our community as we aspire to attract staff that match the social and cultural diversity of our student intake.
