About this Role

Role Overview

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, passionate and well-qualified Singing Teacher to join our highly successful Music Department at Francis Holland Sloane. The successful candidate will deliver one or two days of individual singing lessons of 30 minutes’ duration throughout the school day, building a full and rewarding timetable with strong existing student numbers. We are particularly seeking a teacher with a specialism in contemporary vocal styles, including musical theatre, though a breadth of vocal expertise is warmly welcomed. The role offers a wonderful opportunity to work with enthusiastic, talented pupils in a school with a genuinely thriving singing culture and an exceptionally ambitious Musical Theatre programme.

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach singing to individual pupils across all year groups at Francis Holland Sloane Square, delivering 30-minute lessons throughout the school day
  • Plan and deliver engaging, challenging lessons that promote deep understanding and intellectual curiosity
  • Monitor progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to students, as well as to their parents and teachers, where appropriate
  • Prepare pupils thoroughly for internal and external assessments
  • Support the school’s thriving choral programme and contribute to major productions, including the annual school musical performed at a West End theatre or other prestigious external venue
  • Work closely with the Director of Co-Curricular, Director of Academic Music Music and the wider music team to foster a collaborative, high-quality vocal programme
  • Contribute to departmental development, enrichment and the wider life of the school

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A high level of vocal performance ability, ideally with a degree or professional training from a conservatoire, university or further education music department
  • A specialist background in contemporary vocal styles, including musical theatre, pop and modern repertoire, alongside broad vocal training and familiarity with ABRSM or LCM Musical Theatre graded examination syllabi
  • A passion for singing and the ability to inspire confidence, vocal development and a love of performance in pupils of all abilities
  • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative, reflective approach and commitment to professional learning
  • A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a strong commitment to pupil wellbeing
