About this Role

James Allen’s Saturday School for the Performing Arts is seeking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic piano teacher from 5 September 2026 to join a team of over 35 instrumental teachers on Saturdays at our specialist Music School in Dulwich, London SE22 8TE.


We are looking for someone who:

    • is an experienced 1:1 teacher of piano
    • is keen to get involved with theory teaching (small classes) and concert accompanying
    • can prepare pupils for exams, concerts and personal musical goals
    • has a particular interest in setting up beginner pupils
    • has experience both as a performer and teacher

Lessons take place in Dulwich on term time Saturdays. Click here for current term dates.
 

    • Hours: The hours available will depend on the skillset of the successful candidate but will likely start with a full morning of teaching but having the potential for hours to increase as the year progresses. Established teachers at Jasspa teach for up to 7.5 hours/Saturday. All instrumental tuition is taught 1:1
    • Pay: £41.50/hour (Hourly rate is inclusive of holiday pay)

The School

Based at James Allen’s Girls’ School, Jasspa is a school passionate about the performing arts. We offer specialist music tuition in a friendly and vibrant atmosphere on term time Saturdays in Dulwich.  Pupils aged 6-18 can choose any combination of classes from a broad range of instrumental lessons, theory, ensembles and choirs including our Community Choir for adults and pupils aged 13+.  There are 37 instrumental teachers at Jasspa.

Jasspa is also the home of South London Youth Orchestra – four orchestras from beginner to advanced level who meet for orchestral holiday courses three times a year. In the summer, winter and spring breaks 300+ music students from across London and the South-East, come together to work with outstanding tutors and conductors from the profession.


Whilst Jasspa is an organisation with the community very much at its heart, we are also a centre of excellence. Quality music education in a positive, nurturing environment is what we do best. All Saturday and Holiday courses take place at James Allen’s Girls’ School where we have full access to purpose-built facilities including the Vaughan Williams Auditorium and the Holst Hall.
