The University Admissions Counsellor plays an important role within the Higher Education and Careers Department, supporting students with international university applications, with the core focus on the United States and Canada. The role involves working closely with pupils, families and colleagues to guide students through a highly competitive and complex application process.
Based primarily at Dulwich College, the successful candidate will also support students across the College’s Foundation Schools (Dulwich College, James Allen’s Girls’ School and Alleyn’s), working the equivalent of one day per week at each school. Support is delivered through individual meetings, group sessions and joint activities involving pupils from across the schools.
Key responsibilities include acting as College Counsellor for a caseload of students in Years 12 and 13, advising on application strategy, providing feedback on personal and supplementary essays, supporting interview preparation, and monitoring and submitting applications through relevant platforms. The role also contributes to workshops, assemblies, open evenings and parent events, and supports the maintenance of accurate records and reports relating to university placements.
The post holder will keep up to date with international admissions trends through professional development, conferences and networking, and will assist with the wider work of the Higher Education and Careers Department, including administrative support, outreach activities and, where appropriate, co‑curricular provision.
