About this Role

Thomas Tallis School is a flourishing and popular school situated in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. We currently have over 2000 pupils on the school roll, with around 700 students in our highly competitive sixth form. We strive for excellence in all that we do, underpinned by our vision of education to understand the world and change it for the better.

We are seeking to appoint a committed and highly organised Attendance Officer to join our pastoral and safeguarding team. This is a key role within the school, leading on the strategic and operational management of attendance and punctuality, ensuring that all students are safe, present and fully able to access their education.

Working under the direction of the Deputy Headteacher, the successful candidate will monitor and analyse attendance data, coordinate interventions, line manage the Attendance Admin Support Assistant and Attendance Intervention Officer, and work closely with pupils, families, school leaders and external agencies to remove barriers to regular attendance.

The main purpose of the role is to safeguard and support the wellbeing of children and young people, contribute to raising achievement by improving attendance and punctuality, and ensure that statutory duties relating to attendance are fully met.

We are looking for someone who has:

• experience working in a school or educational setting
• experience analysing data, producing reports and identifying key trends
• a strong understanding of statutory guidance relating to attendance, safeguarding and child and family wellbeing
• excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils, parents/carers and colleagues
• strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, multi-task and work effectively under pressure

We can offer you:

• children and young people who are eager to learn, progress and fulfil their potential
• a supportive and committed staff team with a strong focus on professional development
• an excellent physical environment with state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure
• a school with humane management principles and a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and wellbeing

If you are passionate about improving attendance, removing barriers to learning and ensuring that every young person has the opportunity to succeed, we would welcome your application.
