EYFS/KS1 Teaching Assistant at Surbiton High Girls’
Preparatory School

Salary: FTE £29,536 – £33,225 (actual salary TBC depending on working
pattern)
Contract: Permanent, part-time (2 days per week), 38 weeks per year
Working Pattern: Thursday and Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm, 15 hours per week
Are you a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching
Assistant with a passion for supporting young learners? Surbiton High Girls’
Preparatory School is seeking an EYFS/KS1 Teaching Assistant to join our
nurturing and high-achieving environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in
supporting teaching and learning, helping pupils to develop confidence,
independence and a love of learning during these crucial early years.
What you’ll do:
• Support pupils across the EYFS/KS1 curriculum, promoting engagement and
independence
• Assist class teachers with lesson preparation, delivery and classroom
organisation
• Deliver targeted interventions, including phonics and small group support
• Observe and record pupil progress, contributing to ongoing assessment
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Support pupils’ wellbeing and contribute to strong pastoral care
• Assist with co-curricular activities, school events and educational visits
• Supervise pupils during key points of the school day, including break and
lunchtime
What we’re looking for:
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) is essential
• Experience working with children in EYFS/KS1
• A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills
• A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to use initiative
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
• Enthusiasm for education and supporting young children’s development
Qualifications such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant
certificate, ELSA training, or First Aid certification would be advantageous
but are not essential.
