St John’s has run the DfE Teaching Internship programme for the past 6-years and has a wealth of experienced mentors who work with Teaching Interns, trainee teachers and Early Career Teachers.
As part of an internship at St John’s,
you may experience:

Structured
professional development sessions on subjects such as behaviour management,
safeguarding etc.
·
Job
shadowing and lesson observations.
·
Have
a tutor group.
·
Supporting
struggling pupils.
·
Supporting
pupils with SEND.
·
Running
departmental or school projects.
·
Helping
out with whole school events e.g. year 7 open day or sports day.
·
Setting
up and helping with experiments or lab work.
·
Teaching
a lesson.
Whether you’re curious about
teaching or seriously considering it, a Teaching Internship offers an inspiring
and supportive way to explore the profession.
Eligibility
·
You
must be an undergraduate (in at least your second year of study) or
master’s student.
·
You
must be studying a university course related to the subject you wish to teach
(Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computing, Design & Technology or
Languages (French, Spanish or German.)
·
You
must demonstrate a genuine interest in working with young people and making a
positive difference to their lives.
Unfortunately, you are not
eligible to apply if you are a first-year undergraduate, have applied for
Initial Teacher Training (ITT) or have previously participated in a DfE funded
Teaching Internship.
