Kimbolton School is seeking to appoint an Academic Support Teaching Assistant to provide support as directed by the Head of Academic support for students with special educational needs, this may include an EHCP. Students can have a range of needs from physical needs to SEMH and autism. This will include a mixture of in-class support and intervention-based work outside of the main classroom within Academic Support. The role of the teaching assistant is to support the young person to have full access to the curriculum and encourage them whenever possible to become an independent learner.
The successful candidate should have an understanding of the social and emotional needs of children and young people with disabilities, as well as effective communication skills, and the ability to proactively adapt or modify the curriculum to make it accessible. This is a term time only,1-year, fixed term contract.
