About this Role

Leadership and Management

·         Deputise for the Head of Centre and provide operational leadership when required.

·         Support the day-to-day management of the academy, ensuring high standards of education, safeguarding, and student welfare.

·         Assist with staff supervision, mentoring, and performance management processes.

·         Promote and model the academy's vision, values, and culture.

·         Contribute to strategic planning, self-evaluation, school improvement planning, and quality assurance activities.

·         Support the management of attendance, behaviour, student support plans, and intervention strategies.

·         Assist with timetabling, curriculum organisation, and resource management.

·         Lead specific projects and initiatives as directed by the Head of Centre

 

Student Support and Pastoral Care

·         Build positive and trusting relationships with students and families. Support the emotional wellbeing, personal development, and resilience of learners.

·         Contribute to the development and review of EHCP outcomes, individual support plans, and risk assessments where required.

·         Work closely with parents, carers, local authorities, schools, and external professionals to coordinate support.

·         Promote positive behaviour and restorative approaches throughout the provision.



Safeguarding and Compliance

·         Act as the Deputy DSL (training will be provided if necessary).

·         Ensure full compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, GDPR, and other relevant regulations.

·         Support compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, GDPR, and regulatory requirements.

·         Maintain accurate records and reporting systems (attendance, safeguarding, incident logs, etc.).

Teaching and Learning

·         Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

·         Prepare students for GCSE English Language and other appropriate English qualifications.

·         Deliver ASDAN programmes to Post-16 learners, ensuring programmes support progression, employability, independence, and personal development.

·         Develop students' literacy, communication, reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.

·         Differentiate teaching effectively to meet the needs of learners with SEND, SEMH, EBSA/EBSNA, and other barriers to learning.

·         Assess, monitor, and record student progress, implementing interventions where necessary.

·         Maintain high expectations for achievement, attendance, behaviour, and engagement.

·         Contribute to curriculum planning, development, and quality improvement across the provision.

·         Support learners in preparing for further education, employment, training, and adulthood.

·         Post-16 Provision

·         Lead the planning, delivery, and quality assurance of ASDAN programmes.

·         Track learner progress and ensure achievement of ASDAN qualifications and awards.

·         Develop meaningful enrichment, employability, life skills, and community engagement opportunities.

·         Support transition planning for learners moving into further education, apprenticeships, employment, or independent living.

·         Work collaboratively with external agencies, employers, colleges, and training providers to enhance progression opportunities.



Operational Responsibilities

·         Support the smooth day-to-day running of the provision.

·         Assist with facilities management, health and safety procedures, and resource allocation.

·         Ensure learning environments are safe, welcoming, and conducive to learning.

·         Participate in admissions, transition planning, and annual review processes where appropriate.
