About this Role

Woodland Academy Trust is seeking a part-time (3 days per week), experienced, values-driven Head of Human Resources, to lead and shape the Trust’s HR strategy. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our organisation, working in close partnership with the CFOO and Trust leaders to ensure our workforce strategy reflects our ambition, compassion and commitment to excellence.

You will play a key role in building a high-performing, future-ready HR service, embedding robust systems and processes to support our people and drive positive change. From strategic workforce planning to supporting staff wellbeing and ensuring legal compliance, you will help create an environment where our people can thrive.

We are looking for a collaborative leader who can combine strategic vision with hands-on operational delivery, ensuring our HR offer is consistent, compliant and innovative - including the use of digital tools and AI to strengthen efficiency and impact.

The successful candidate should:

- Hold CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience in HR leadership (Level 7 or Chartered CIPD desirable).
- Have a strong track record of leading HR functions across multiple sites or services.
- Demonstrate expert knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Be experienced in managing complex employee relations cases with confidence and sensitivity.
- Have a proven ability to design and implement strategic HR initiatives, policies and procedures.
Be skilled in analysing workforce data, producing management reports and using insights to inform decision-making.
- Champion staff wellbeing and proactive absence management approaches.
- Bring strong communication, influencing and coaching skills to engage with senior leaders, staff and external partners.
- Have experience of or an interest in HR systems, digital transformation and ethical AI integration.
- Model our Trust values - ambition, collaboration, compassion, excellence and inclusivity - in all aspects of their work.

Please note that due to the volume of applications we receive, we reserve the right to close this position early should a suitable candidate be found. Therefore, early application is advised.
