Family Support Worker

Hours: 24 hours per week, 4 days per week, 38 weeks per year.

Grade: G8

FTE Salary: £24,702

Actual Salary: £13,442.62

Contract: Fixed Term until 31 August 2025.

This is a multi-school position working across three of our wonderful schools; Braunston C E Primary School, Barby C E Primary School and Staverton C E Primary School.

Are you a caring, passionate and professional Family Support Worker, who is eager to address the needs of children and their families, to overcome barriers to learning?


We are seeking someone who:

  • Is enthusiastic, approachable, friendly and positive about their role in education and contribution to the whole school community
  • Can promote effective relationships between home and school, developing and supporting links to encourage regular attendance of children
  • Ability to work effectively, flexibly, and collaboratively with other staff members, families and the wider community, to develop action plans and facilitate support
  • Enable the sharing of relevant information between local agencies and school, acting as an effective point of contact for accessing a range of community support services
  •  Is passionate about children’s learning and well-being
  • Is keen to support the ethos of a Church school.
  • Understands the importance of Child Protection and is committed to the safeguarding of children’s welfare- both at home and in school.
  • Is able to work collaboratively with various members of the school community, including    agencies, school staff, child and parents, to be a pivotal supportive link to help overcome barriers to learning
  • Understands the importance of Child Protection and is committed to the safeguarding of children’s welfare- both at home and in school.
  • Is able to promote an effective relationship between home and school life, for both children and parents.
  • Has knowledge and awareness of opportunities and resources to support children and families in need.
  • Is able to maintain effective and efficient lines of communication between various groups and organisations throughout the community, to ensure essential support is available for families
  • Has an understanding of procedures and systems involved in the role, including Social Services, Child Protection, Education Welfare Service policies and Reporting standards.
  • Maintains an approachable, controlled and focused manner throughout their work, to relay both a positive and optimistic attitude to support those in challenging situations. Oftentimes the role may involve the ability to deal with a wide-ranging audience on challenging issues
  • Has qualified Nursery Nurse status and previous experience of working with children and families in a working environment.
  •  Ability to work effectively, flexibly and independently, with willingness to show initiative and strong interpersonal skills
  • Is keen to support the ethos of a Church school.
