As this role covers the full 3-18 age range, there is the potential to split the role into an Early Years/ Primary SEND Lead and a Secondary/Post 16 transition SEND Lead for the right candidates.
As
SEND lead(s), you will play a pivotal role in supporting local schools,
settings and families. You
will work part-time hours across the week, term time only (38 weeks). The ability to work flexible days would be an
advantage. This role operates from the
DSPL7 office, based in The Hub in the grounds of Fleetville Junior School in St
Albans.
We are
keen to appoint people who are enthusiastic and capable of being hands-on. Successful candidates will have experience of
working with children and young people with complex needs in educational
settings and services, and an appreciation of the opportunities and challenges
facing children and young people with significant needs, their families, schools
and settings and services.
The
role involves liaison with a range of professionals, Headteachers and SENCos,
and parents/carers and candidates must present in a courteous and friendly
manner and have the ability to relate well to people, adapting responses
appropriately.
