About this Role

As this role covers the full 3-18 age range, there is the potential to split the role into an Early Years/ Primary SEND Lead and a Secondary/Post 16 transition SEND Lead for the right candidates.

As SEND lead(s), you will play a pivotal role in supporting local schools, settings and families.  You will work part-time hours across the week, term time only (38 weeks).  The ability to work flexible days would be an advantage.  This role operates from the DSPL7 office, based in The Hub in the grounds of Fleetville Junior School in St Albans.

We are keen to appoint people who are enthusiastic and capable of being hands-on.  Successful candidates will have experience of working with children and young people with complex needs in educational settings and services, and an appreciation of the opportunities and challenges facing children and young people with significant needs, their families, schools and settings and services.

The role involves liaison with a range of professionals, Headteachers and SENCos, and parents/carers and candidates must present in a courteous and friendly manner and have the ability to relate well to people, adapting responses appropriately.

DSPL7 is part of the Spiral Partnership Trust.  Being part of an Academy allows us to offer more generous terms and conditions of employments.  The Trust recognises that the staff are our greatest asset and reflect that in the way they reward and invest in the staff team.

Please read the attached job description for further details.  We reserve the right to close this vacancy and to interview and appoint early should successful applications be received, so early submission of your application is recommended.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
