About this Role

Cambrian Learning Trust is seeking an experienced and strategic Governance professional to lead on governance, compliance and policy across the Trust. Reporting to the CEO, this pivotal role supports the Board of Trustees, CEO and COO in delivering the Trust’s strategic priorities while ensuring full compliance with charity law, company law and education regulations.

About the Role

You will:

  • Act as the Trust’s lead adviser on governance, compliance and statutory obligations.
  • Develop and maintain the Governance Assurance Framework and Scheme of Delegation.
  • Ensure Board decisions comply with governing documents and funding agreements.
  • Lead Trustee and Governor recruitment, induction, training and development.
  • Line manage clerking staff across the Trust.
  • Attend Ofsted inspections as Governance Lead.
  • Serve as Company Secretary, ensuring all statutory filings and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as Data Protection Officer (DPO), overseeing GDPR, FOI requests, data breaches and liaison with the ICO.
  • Lead development and review of Trust-wide policies, ensuring consistency and best practice.

About You

You will have:

  • Significant governance experience within education or a similar regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of charity/company law, GDPR and school governance frameworks.
  • Experience managing staff and advising senior leaders or boards.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and influencing skills.
  • Integrity, discretion and the ability to remain impartial.

Flexibility is required, including evening meetings and travel between schools.
