About this Role

At River Learning Trust (RLT), our mission is simple yet powerful: Working together to achieve excellence in education. We are a vibrant, collaborative community of schools dedicated to providing a caring, stimulating, and inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive. We believe that supporting our schools starts with supporting our people, and that is where you come in. You must have a minimum of two years in a senior HR role within a Multi-Academy Trust.

We are looking for a thoughtful, inspiring, and collaborative Senior HR Business Partner to lead our passionate HR Business Partner team. In this role, you won't just manage processes - you will nurture potential. Reporting to the HR Director, you will shape a trusted, high-quality HR service, empower our HR Business Partners to grow in their careers, and act as a guiding voice for school leaders as they navigate complex people matters

Your Role in Our Journey

As a cornerstone of our Central Team, you will:

  • Lead with Heart: Create a supportive "one-team" philosophy, bringing colleagues together to share knowledge, collaborate, and thrive.

  • Empower Others: Mentor and upskill our HR Business Partners, giving them the confidence to take ownership and deliver an exceptional service to our schools.

  • Guide and Support: Partner directly with your own group of RLT schools, providing compassionate, expert advice on employee relations, performance management, and positive organizational change.

Drive Trust-Wide Initiatives: Take the lead on meaningful projects - from ensuring the highest standards of Safer Recruitment to helping shape the future of our overarching People Strategy.

Education has the power to change lives, communities and society for the better. At RLT we believe that we can achieve more for our pupils, trainees, staff and communities by working together rather than alone. Schools in RLT are united by a common belief in the benefits of working together, and by our commitment to shared principles.

OUR VISION is for our schools and SCITT to improve rapidly, continuously and sustainably: to be better faster together.
OUR ‘WHY?’ is that children and young people ‘only get one go’ in school and therefore as part of RLT we aim to ensure the best possible ‘go’ for our pupils.
OUR ‘HOW?’ is through the highest support and challenge for our schools and each other, underpinned by our principles.

Our employees benefit from a wide variety of support including extensive  continuing professional learning and development opportunities, wellbeing and staff networks and access to Defined Benefit Pension Schemes (TPS and LGPS) for all staff. For more information on what it is like to work for the Trust, and the benefits you could access, please see our “Working in RLT” guide.

This role includes regulated activity relevant to children.

The River Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and preventing extremism.   The Trust is required to conduct a variety of checks and online searches about you as part of their recruitment process in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. It is an offence to apply for certain roles within schools if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
