Flexible location, with travel to Anthem schools and offices as required
Anthem Schools Trust is seeking an exceptional Head of Data and Insights to lead our trust-wide approach to data, intelligence and systems.
This is a senior leadership role with real influence. You will shape how data is defined, governed, interpreted and used across the trust, ensuring it underpins strong decision-making, school improvement and effective governance.
Anthem is one of the most established multi-academy trusts in the country, educating over 7,000 pupils across 15 primary and secondary schools across the East Midlands, London and the Thames Valley. Our schools serve richly diverse communities, from rural villages to inner-city neighbourhoods. The insight you provide will directly support better outcomes for children and young people across all of them.
As Anthem continues to mature and strengthen consistency across a diverse system, this role is central to ensuring leaders at every level have confidence in the data they use and the decisions they make.
This role will suit a data leader seeking genuine influence at trust level, with the opportunity to shape how data is used across education, operations and governance.
You will be the trust’s professional lead for data and insight, with clear authority to set standards, frameworks and expectations for data quality, reporting and system use across schools and central teams.
You will work in close partnership with senior leaders and trustees, acting as a trusted professional advisor and bringing clarity, challenge and evidence to complex discussions.
In this strategic role, you will:
Lead the development and delivery of Anthem’s trust-wide data, intelligence and systems strategy, aligned to educational, operational and financial priorities.
Establish and maintain high standards for data quality, integrity and governance, ensuring data is trusted, consistent and fit for purpose.
Provide strategic oversight of the trust’s MIS (Bromcom) and wider data ecosystem such as PowerBI, ensuring systems are joined up, sustainable and effectively used.
Translate complex datasets into clear, meaningful insight that informs decision-making at school, executive and trustee level.
Produce high-quality analyses, reports and dashboards to support school improvement, performance monitoring and strategic planning.
Deliver robust statistical analysis of local, regional and national benchmark data to inform target-setting and evaluation.
Evaluate the impact of trust-wide initiatives and interventions, using evidence to inform improvement and future investment.
Provide expert advice, guidance and training to colleagues, embedding confident and consistent use of data and systems across the trust.
Work closely with the Chief Executive, Chief Operating Officer, Education Directors and Trustees to support effective leadership and governance.
You will bring both technical credibility and strategic judgement. This role requires someone who can lead, influence and challenge constructively, not simply report.
You will demonstrate:
A strong academic background, ideally a 2:1 degree or higher, with a sound understanding of statistical methodologies.
Significant experience analysing educational data to inform senior leadership decisions and drive improvement.
Deep expertise in MIS systems and confidence operating within complex, multi-site data environments.
Experience working with senior leaders, providing clear professional advice and constructive challenge grounded in evidence.
Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to make insight accessible to non-technical audiences.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Confidence operating with ambiguity, applying professional judgement where data alone does not provide a complete answer.
A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
In your first year, success in this role will mean greater confidence in trust-wide data, clearer insight for leaders and trustees, and more consistent, intelligent use of data to support school improvement and operational decision-making.
