Salary: NJC Grade 4, £25,989 per annum (pro rata), depending on experience
Hours: 10 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

 

About the Role

Shropshire Church of England Academies Trust are seeking a reliable and practical School Maintenance Operative to support the upkeep of four neighbouring schools within our Trust. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys a variety of maintenance tasks and takes pride in ensuring buildings and grounds are safe, well-maintained, and fit for purpose. Working across multiple sites, you will play an important role in supporting site teams, carrying out minor repairs, and helping maintain a safe environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs across school sites
  • Support site teams with day-to-day upkeep of buildings and grounds
  • Assist with small projects and basic improvements
  • Ensure work is carried out safely and in line with health and safety guidance
  • Act as a key holder, providing access to sites for planned works (particularly outside of term time)
  • Liaise with site staff and contractors as required
  • Report any issues affecting safety or building condition

 

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has practical maintenance or DIY skills
  • Is reliable, flexible, and able to work independently
  • Has a basic understanding of health and safety within a working environment
  • Can manage their time effectively across multiple sites
  • Takes pride in delivering high-quality work
  • Has good communication skills
