About this Role

We are seeking to appoint a committed and effective Classroom Teacher to join John Rankin School. The role involves planning and delivering high-quality lessons, leading a tutor group and contributing to curriculum development so that all students make strong progress, achieve high academic standards and learn in a safe, purposeful and ambitious environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver highly effective lessons in line with the Trust’s Learning and Teaching Framework and Schemes of Work
  • Secure strong progress and attainment for all students, including disadvantaged students, those with SEND and the most able
  • Use assessment effectively to inform teaching, close gaps and support student progress
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour for learning and create a safe, positive classroom environment
  • Contribute to tutor provision, supporting student wellbeing, attendance and personal development
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and carers to support student outcomes
  • Implement Trust policies consistently, including safeguarding, behaviour, assessment and reporting
  • Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities, including trips and extra-curricular activities

The ideal candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
  • Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and effective teaching practice
  • Has high expectations for all students and a commitment to inclusive practice
  • Is skilled in behaviour management and creating a positive learning environment
  • Uses assessment effectively to support progress and inform teaching
  • Communicates clearly and builds positive professional relationships
  • Is organised, reflective and committed to ongoing professional development
  • Is willing to contribute to the wider life of the school and the Trust
