Temporary Teaching Assistant – Maternity Cover
32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday term-time only

a Teaching
Assistant on a temporary basis for a Maternity Cover, to join
St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Hednesford, part of St Gabriel the
Archangel Catholic Multi-Academy Trust, starting January 2026.

of Hednesford, beside the beautiful Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural

team, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing.
Working closely with teachers and other staff, you will help to create a
positive, nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
About the Role:
As
a Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the
learning and development of our pupils. You will work closely with teachers to
provide guidance, encouragement, and practical support, helping to create a
positive, nurturing, and well-organised classroom environment. Your
contribution will help maintain the warm, caring atmosphere that makes our
school community so special.
Main Responsibilities:
• Supporting teachers in the classroom to enhance pupils’ learning and
development
• Assisting with planning and preparing learning materials and classroom
resources
• Providing one-to-one or small group support for pupils who require additional
help
• Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development in line
with school policies
• Helping to maintain accurate records of pupil progress, attendance, and
achievements
• Assisting with supervision during breaks, lunchtimes, and school events
• Supporting the smooth running of school activities, trips, and events
• Contributing to a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment
• Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents to meet
pupils’ needs

are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is:
• Caring, patient, and committed to supporting pupils’ learning and
development
• Friendly, approachable, and able to build positive relationships with
pupils, staff, and families
• Reliable, organised, and able to manage tasks effectively in a busy
classroom environment
• Proactive and able to use initiative to support both teachers and
pupils
• A strong team player, willing to collaborate with
colleagues to meet the needs of all pupils
• Flexible and willing to learn, including adapting
to new teaching methods and school systems
