About this Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Computer Science and Digital Arts Teacher to join our National Online School team. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, creative, and pupil-focused lessons online, linked to each pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and related 6-week therapeutic learning plans.

The TCES National Online School (NOS) delivers therapeutic, virtual education to pupils with complex co-morbid needs, including pupils with neurodiverse identities and those experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA) which present barriers to them assessing mainstream school-based education.

The teacher will lead on the delivery of computer science and digital arts teaching & learning, with timetabled lessons taught virtually to small classes of remote pupils. They prepare, differentiate, and deliver their subject’s curriculum for small classes of pupils, who are grouped dependent on needs, abilities and/or age. Teachers also provide more bespoke tuition for pupils as required, including supporting the access of online qualifications and accreditations in their subject. This role will also role model and guide in the continued fostering of a supportive virtual learning environment, providing their expertise to other teachers on creating inclusive, engaging and accessible virtual learning.

Essential requirements to be successful in the role are:

  • Qualified Teacher (holds QTS or QTLS)
  • Higher Education qualifications in Computer Science, Digital Arts or a related field (e.g. BSc in Computer Science).
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in education.
  • Experience of supporting neurodiverse children and an understanding of potential implications for communication, learning and behaviour patterns.
  • Proven experience teaching computer science and/or digital arts, preferably in an online setting.
  • A track record of promoting high standards and achieving strong pupil outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Working knowledge of National Curriculum, KS requirements and Code of Practice for SEND, Safeguarding & Chid Protection procedures.

In return we offer:

  • Competitive salary and terms and conditions.
  • An opportunity to make a real difference and join a leading provider of specialist education, directly contributing towards positive outcomes for pupils with SEMH and ASC.
  • Excellent CPD opportunities with all staff provided an individual Learning & Development Plan to support career development and options to take progressive Ofqual registered Level 3 – 5 qualifications in Therapeutic Education.
  • Comprehensive induction process, including all pupil-facing staff supported in receiving the Level 3 Award in Therapeutic Education and Group Process.
  • Regular half termly staff wellbeing days.
  • A range of employee support and wellbeing benefits including Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), counselling and contributions towards medical costs & an  exclusive rewards platform.

TCES, NOS and Great Minds are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and expects all staff to share this commitment. The appointment is subject to all relevant checks such as references, medical clearance and a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.

We are an equal opportunity employer.
