The Abbey School is seeking to appoint a member of staff to join our MFL Department. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, talented, and passionate Head of Modern Foreign Language, to start from April or 28th August 2025.
We currently offer Modern Foreign Languages to over 50% of the cohort at GCSE and all students take MFL in KS3. The department has recently expanded their offer into A-Level French and there are strong proposals to offer A-Level Spanish in the near future. This is an exciting time to be joining the school, with the current subject lead having been appointed into Senior Leadership. The department achieves the highest outcomes in the school at GCSE and is well resourced, with highly committed staff.
As a leading department in the school, you will have excellent subject knowledge and be confident that students in your care will make exceptional progress. This is a great opportunity for someone to join a team which is forward-thinking and focused on doing the very best for every student. Students have high participation in lessons and there is a great energy and ambition to succeed.
This is a full time, permanent role, paid based on the STPC Main/Upper Teachers Pay Range, dependant on experience, as well as a TLR2b of £5,645.
The school is offering a recruitment incentive which split into the following payments - £2,500 subject to the successful completion of a 6-month probationary period, and a further £2,500 to be paid upon one year service.
What can we offer you?
The successful candidate will be someone who has high expectations and is genuinely passionate about education. In return, we can promise an investment in you and your future, offering a competitive remuneration package, providing first class professional development and career opportunities.
