Brompton Hall School is seeking to appoint a dedicated Attendance & Welfare Officer to join our committed team of staff. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and parents, is flexible, and is enthusiastic about supporting students' learning and well-being.

Brompton Hall School is based within private grounds in the pretty village of Brompton-by-Sawdon and is a Special Education School for pupils aged between 8 and 16 years.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Attendance & Welfare Officer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the Attendance & Pupil Support Lead and the Senior Leadership Team to support students outside the classroom and help them overcome barriers to learning.

You will play a key part in improving school attendance, reducing persistent absence, and ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements. The role involves carrying out home visits, building positive communication with pupils and parents, and maintaining accurate records and administrative tasks.

This role involves visiting pupils & parents at their home, you must have a clean, valid driving licence

Key Responsibilities

      • Promote & Safeguard the welfare of children & young people
      • Establish, develop & maintain relationships with school staff & other agencies
      • Work with the Admin team and carry out day to day admin duties with a busy school office, dealing with parents and organising meetings & welfare visits
      • Improve school attendance / timekeeping and manage persistent absentees by maintaining regular contact with parents/ carers by telephone and home visits
      • evaluate the attendance data and organise visits, further phone calls or triaging to other professionals

      • Undertake unsupervised home visits to identify barriers to good attendance at school and work with school staff to provide appropriate support for families. 
      • Keep accurate records relating to contact with children & families, update attendance data daily and weekly.
