About this Role

HEAD OF SOCIAL SCIENCES

Commencing – April 2026

MPS/UPS + TLR2 (£8100)

Full Time

Are you an outstanding Social Sciences specialist ready to lead, inspire and make a real impact? Do you have the drive to shape curriculum, challenge thinking and raise aspirations across GCSE and A Level?

The Role

Watling Academy is seeking an inspiring and ambitious individual to join us as Head of Social Sciences. Following the successful launch of our Sixth Form in September 2025, this is an exciting opportunity to lead, shape and grow the A-Level Social Sciences curriculum, while driving excellence across our already well-established and highly popular KS4 Social Sciences provision.

As Head of Social Sciences, you will play a pivotal role in leading the development of our new school, encouraging students to have a critical understanding of the world around them. The post holder will take a leading role in the development of courses in Sociology, Health and Social Care and Psychology at A Level. Our students have shown a passion to pursue Social Science curriculum options, and this is a crucial role for the development of our school. You will also have the opportunity to grow the curriculum offer over time.

We are open to applications from experienced Heads of Department and aspiring teachers looking to take the next step in their careers. If you’re excited by the chance to shape the future of our Social Sciences department and want to make a real impact in a dynamic, forward-thinking school, we’d love to hear from you.
