The
governors of this oversubscribed "outstanding" school are seeking to
appoint an English teacher. We welcome candidates from all religious and non
-religious backgrounds and the successful candidate will be joining an
outstanding department which is fully resourced, with the opportunity to teach
English to pupils across all key stages.
Cardinal Newman is a highly successful 11-18 Catholic comprehensive school set in 37-acre grounds in the pleasant outskirts of Coventry. In our most recent Ofsted visit, staff morale was identified as being high and we are fully committed to the positive wellbeing of our staff.

The department is well
established and has an excellent record of achievement over many years. Most
recent results returned a progress score of 0.86 Within the English
department, we take every opportunity to support each other, and we have a
well-planned and fully resourced curriculum to share best practice and support
staff wellbeing. Every teaching room has a visualiser, IWB and we have a suite
of computers within the department to support learning. We promote a love of
reading and work regularly and closely with our librarian, participating in
Harry Potter Book Days and World book days – anything to share our love of
reading with the students!
You will be joining an outstanding department which is fully resourced, and you will have the opportunity to teach English to pupils across KS3, KS4 and KS5 if you are interested in Post 16 teaching. We have a very popular Post 16 provision in the English department which includes both Language and Literature, and Literature at A Level.
Our outcomes last academic year were outstanding with a progress score of 0.86 which we are extremely proud of, and we are looking for a Teacher of English whose passion and excellent subject knowledge can further develop the achievement of our students. Fundamentally, you will encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve to the best of their ability and encourage a love of English!
