The Role:  Assistant Headteacher – Quality of Education 

Location: Based at St Augustine’s School, Scarborough, working for the St Cuthbert’s Roman Catholic Academy Trust. 

Contract: Permanent

Hours/ Working Pattern: 1FTE  

Salary/ Hourly Rate:  L5-9 (£57137-£63070)

Closing Date:  Monday 11th May 2026 at 9am

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Quality of Education to provide strategic leadership in securing consistently high standards of teaching and learning across the school. The successful candidate will be a highly credible leader with a strong track record of improving pupil outcomes through research informed curriculum design, highly intentional and inclusive classroom practice, and rigorous evaluation of impact. Working closely with senior leaders and subject leaders, you will champion ambitious, knowledge rich curricula, lead whole school approaches to assessment and professional development and ensure that all pupils including those with SEND and disadvantaged learners are supported to know more, remember more and achieve their full potential. This role is ideal for an inspirational leader who combines analytical rigour with compassion, professional integrity and a deep commitment to equity, inclusion and continuous improvement.

Proven ability to lead and secure high quality teaching and learning, resulting in improved pupil outcomes 

Deep expertise in curriculum design, pedagogy and assessment, underpinned by research informed practice 

Strong experience of evaluating the quality of education through purposeful monitoring, data analysis and evidence of impact 

Ability to develop and inspire staff through effective coaching, professional development and clear expectations 

Unwavering commitment to equity and inclusion, ensuring excellent provision for disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND
