About this Role

Under the reasonable direction of the Head teacher, carry out the professional duties of a schoolteacher as set out in the current School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD).

Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for pupils.

Monitor and support the overall progress and development of pupils as a teacher.

Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides pupils with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.

Contribute to raising standards of pupil potential.

Share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.

  • To carry out duties in accordance with the Teachers Standards.
  • Work positively to the implementation of Teaching and Learning developments in line with the school SSDP and current Teaching & Learning foci.
  • Teach, pupils according to their educational needs, including the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the pupil in school and elsewhere.
  • Assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of pupils and to keep such records as are required.
  • Provide, or contribute to, oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual pupils and groups of pupils.
  • Ensure that Literacy and Numeracy are promoted and reflected in the teaching / learning experience of pupils.
  • Undertake a designated programme of teaching.
  • Ensure a high quality learning experience for pupils which meets internal and external quality standards and ensures all pupils make progress.
  • Prepare and update subject materials.
  • Use a variety of delivery methods which will stimulate learning appropriate to pupils needs and demands of the syllabus.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s procedures, and to encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework.
  • Undertake assessment of pupils as requested by external examination bodies, departmental and school procedures.
  • Mark, grade and give written / verbal and diagnostic feedback in line with the school policy.
  • As part of your contractual obligations you may be required to teach identified classes in our partner primary and high schools as part of our outreach work.
