About this Role

Sir James Smith’s School is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable and inspiring Subject Leader of Maths to lead and further develop our Maths department. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher with the ambition and capacity to take on subject leadership.

You will be joining a school with a strong academic culture and a clear commitment to continuous improvement, where Maths plays a central role in raising standards and outcomes for all students.

Sir James Smith’s School is a mixed 11–16 comprehensive, beautifully located on the North Cornish coast between Bude and Wadebridge, offering easy access to stunning beaches and countryside.

We are looking for someone who:

Is an outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to model and promote excellent teaching across the department.

  • Has high expectations of themselves, their team and their students.
  • Believes that every student can succeed and works relentlessly to make this happen.
  • Can lead, motivate and support colleagues, building a strong, collaborative team.
  • Has the drive and organisational skills to lead curriculum development, assessment and improvement within Maths.
  • Can build positive relationships quickly with students, colleagues and leaders

We are building on strong improvements in GCSE results achieved last year and are highly ambitious to continue raising standards and outcomes in Maths. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the subject.

If you have the energy, passion, resilience and drive to lead Maths as part of our journey to becoming an outstanding school, we would love to hear from you. Visits to the school are welcomed and encouraged.
