About this Role

Sir James Smith’s School are looking to appoint a Performing Arts Technician.  We are looking for people who are hard-working and have a passion for providing students with exciting learning opportunities. The successful candidate ideally will:

 Have a positive, can-do attitude.

·         Have a good knowledge of how children learn.

·         Have positive working relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.

·         Be an excellent role model for students.

·         Be passionate about the Performing Arts.

·         Be able to operate and maintain performing arts technical equipment.

·         Instruct students in the use of the equipment and technical processes.

·         Prepare coursework recordings (audio and AV) for GCSE, VCERT and BTEC Assessment.

·         Provide close support for all GCSE Drama and Music lessons.

·         Be able to design, set up and operate technical equipment for school shows.

·         Support school plays with set and prop builds.

 

The technical duties will include: 

·         Day to day maintenance of instruments and equipment. 

·         Support GCSE, VCERT and BTEC classes in the operation of the equipment as well as provide artistic support for the students. 

·         During productions, be responsible for the technical elements of the shows.  Be in charge of the student tech crew and train them how to operate the equipment.

·         Work closely with the Drama and Music teachers to prepare resources for use in class.

·         Proficient with Apple Mac recording systems, principally Logic Pro X and Garageband and able to edit multi track recordings. 

·         Jamf Pro/Day to day management of iMac network.
