Location: Ernulf Academy
Salary: Lead Practitioner 2 – 6 (£52,301 - £57,720)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time (32.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year) - Would consider Part Time hours as well

About the Role:

Ernulf Academy is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Lead Practitioner in Geography to join our team. The successful candidate will support the Head of Humanities in leading and managing the Geography department, working strategically to develop a well-sequenced curriculum and consistent teaching pedagogy. This role is pivotal in ensuring all students make expected progress across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement and deliver a broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum for students.
• Lead on specific responsibilities within the department and drive high-quality teaching and learning strategies.
• Use coaching and feedback to develop teaching and learning strategies to improve whole school provision and student outcomes.
• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
• Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing high-quality feedback and interventions.
• Maintain productive communication with parents regarding pupil progress and development.
• Lead and manage quality assurance processes within the Geography department.
• Contribute to the overall leadership of the academy through specific duties as directed by the Principal.

Person Specification:

• Education and Training: Qualified Teacher Status, Good Honours Degree, evidence of outstanding teaching.
• Experience: Proven track record of positive pupil outcomes, experience in leading others, and a commitment to self-improvement as a professional.
• Skills: Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills, ability to manage change effectively, and inspire trust and respect.
