About this Role

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Site and Lettings Assistant to support the effective day-to-day operation, safety and security of the school site at Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge.

The postholder will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented environment for students, staff and visitors, while also supporting the smooth delivery of school lettings and events. This is a practical, hands-on role requiring flexibility, initiative and a strong sense of responsibility.

Key responsibilities

Security

  • Act as a key holder, providing emergency access to the site and responding to unforeseen events outside normal working hours.
  • Ensure all buildings and rooms are secure, carrying out daily security checks.
  • Set and disarm intruder alarms, monitor CCTV where required and report faults promptly.

Health and Safety

  • Support the Site Manager to ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements, carrying out scheduled checks and maintaining accurate records.
  • Apply COSHH regulations and take immediate action when hazards are identified.
  • Support fire drills, emergency evacuations and lockdown procedures.
  • Undertake routine checks including water temperature testing and fire alarm operation.
  • Ensure corridors, stairwells and classrooms are kept clear and safe.

Maintenance

  • Proactively undertake minor repairs and maintenance in a cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain buildings and grounds to a high standard, including litter clearance and waste disposal.
  • Carry out basic checks on school vehicles, including the minibus.

Lettings

  • Act as key holder for school lettings, opening and closing the site as required.
  • Provide professional communication and customer service to lettings clients.
  • Set up and clear rooms and equipment before and after lettings, ensuring areas are clean and ready for school use.
  • Report any damage caused by lettings clients.
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends to support lettings and school events.

Systems and general duties

  • Operate heating, air conditioning and other site systems efficiently, reporting defects as required.
  • Assist during exam periods with room set-up to enable lettings to continue.
  • Undertake cleaning duties when necessary and support deliveries, portage and contractor access.
  • Carry out any other duties reasonably required to support the effective operation of the site.

  • An aptitude for practical and maintenance tasks.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to work with a wide range of people.
  • The ability to work independently, using initiative and sound judgement.
  • IT skills to support record keeping and site systems.
  • A commitment to confidentiality, safeguarding and professional standards.

A First Aid qualification, or willingness to undertake training, is desirable.
