About this Role

We are seeking a Teacher of Science to join Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge. This role is central to securing strong progress and attainment for all students through consistently effective teaching and curriculum delivery. You will plan and deliver highly effective lessons, contribute to curriculum development, and support a safe, purposeful and ambitious learning environment where all students can succeed.

You will teach across the allocated timetable and lead a tutor group, ensuring students are supported both academically and pastorally. The role requires a strong commitment to inclusive practice, high expectations, and the consistent application of Trust policies to ensure equitable outcomes for all learners.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, resource and deliver highly effective Science lessons in line with the Trust’s Learning and Teaching Framework
  • Secure strong progress and attainment for all students, including disadvantaged students, those with SEND and the most able
  • Use assessment effectively to inform planning, provide feedback and close gaps in performance
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and create a safe, purposeful learning environment
  • Act as a form tutor, supporting students’ personal development, attendance and wellbeing
  • Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment, including trips and wider learning opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support consistency, strong outcomes and a positive school culture
  • Uphold all safeguarding, behaviour and statutory policies to maintain a strong safeguarding culture

The ideal candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
  • Is a skilled classroom practitioner with the ability to deliver engaging and effective lessons
  • Has high expectations of all students and a commitment to overcoming barriers to learning
  • Demonstrates strong behaviour management and the ability to motivate and inspire learners
  • Communicates effectively with students, colleagues and parents
  • Is well organised and able to manage workload effectively
  • Shows commitment to pastoral care and supporting all students to achieve their potential
  • Is willing to contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment and extra-curricular activities
