About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Science to join our team at Heworth Grange School. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and ambitious Multi-Academy Trust committed to excellence, equity, and integrity.

You will deliver high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students to develop a love for science while ensuring strong academic progress and personal development. The successful candidate will play a key role in raising standards, supporting student wellbeing, and contributing to the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective Science lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing clear feedback to support improvement
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes high expectations
  • Use a range of teaching strategies and technologies to engage learners
  • Contribute to curriculum development and departmental planning
  • Support the pastoral system as a Form Tutor
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external partners
  • Participate fully in school life, including extra-curricular activities

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A degree in a relevant subject
  • Experience teaching Science across KS3 and KS4
  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students of all abilities
  • Commitment to high standards and student achievement
  • Strong communication and organisational skills

Desirable:

  • Awareness of current GCSE developments
  • Experience of innovative teaching approaches and use of ICT
  • Experience contributing to curriculum development
