About this Role

Volunteers may be involved in a range of activities such as hearing children read, working with small groups of children, working alongside individual children, accompanying school visits, making resources and supporting class administration. All adults who work in our school, whether paid members of staff or volunteers, are expected to work and behave in such a way as to actively promote our overall mission of providing the best possible experiences of teaching and learning.  Volunteering does not have to be confined to classrooms or working directly with children, as we welcome support for across the school.  The days and times volunteered are mutually agreed between the volunteer and the school.

All volunteers will be expected to follow school protocol and policies. Please note that parents/grandparents will not work in their child/grandchild's classroom.

It is school's policy to require ALL volunteers working in school, and seen by the children as a trusted adult, to obtain Disclosure and Barring Enhanced Clearance (DBS), provide two satisfactory references and have a meeting with a senior leader.  Community volunteers may be asked to meet the cost of their DBS.

The Governors of Longthorpe Primary Academy are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
