Working Pattern: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm and 45 minute lunch 

Grade: BEX07 - NJC 12

Salary: Actual £23,670 (FTE £32,535)

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people? Do you have the ability to support pupils in overcoming challenges and unlocking their full potential? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Mentor to join our Pastoral team and provide vital support to pupils, helping them engage fully in their education and develop socially and emotionally. You will work closely with pupils, families, staff, an existing Learning Mentor and external agencies to deliver targeted interventions and mentoring that promote inclusion, raise aspirations, and improve outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build positive, supportive relationships with pupils to encourage participation and learning.
  • Identify barriers to learning and implement strategies to overcome them.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support social and emotional development.
  • Work collaboratively with the Pastoral team and teaching staff to provide effective support.
  • Support pupils in the classroom and on a 1:1 basis, including those with complex SEND needs.
  • Liaise with families and external agencies to secure additional support where needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to action plans for pupil progress.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children and young people in an educational or mentoring capacity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
