About this Role

The CCF is a values-based, tried-and-tested school co-curricular programme, forming part of a national expansion initiative to grow cadet opportunities across schools. Run by schools in partnership with the Ministry of Defence (MOD), the purpose is to develop leadership, self-discipline, responsibility and resilience in young people.

Brannel School operates a small but ambitious CCF (Army Section), with plans to expand cadet provision across all five CELT secondary schools over the next 5–10 years as part of our mission to provide every learner with an Exceptional Educational Experience.

The role of School Staff Instructor (SSI) is central to the safe and effective running of any CCF. The SSI provides specialist military training, oversees logistics, ensures MOD compliance and supports the Contingent Commander in delivering a high-quality cadet programme. The SSI also plays a key role in supporting specialist adventurous training and outdoor education programmes e.g. expeditions, climbing, kayaking, Ten Tors competition and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.

Brannel School would like all candidates to answer specific questions for the personal statement section. For reference, here is a preview of the questions/headings:
