‘The sense of community is tangible in this inclusive school.’ (Ofsted 2025)

This is a truly exciting time to join The East Manchester Academy as we continue our journey of transformation. Following our most recent Ofsted inspection in March 2025, we are proud to have been judged ‘Good’ overall, with ‘Outstanding’ in Personal Development and Leadership and Management. This marks a significant step forward from our previous inspection and reflects the dedication, ambition, and talent of our staff and students. We are now ready to build on this momentum and accelerate our journey to become an exceptional school where every child flourishes both academically and personally.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Humanities to join our Humanities Faculty and deliver high‑quality teaching across KS3 and KS4. You will plan and deliver well‑structured lessons with clear learning objectives, maintaining high expectations for behaviour, engagement and achievement. Through effective assessment, marking and use of data, you will monitor progress closely and ensure all students are supported to make sustained progress, including those with SEND, those who are gifted and talented, and other identified groups.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will contribute to curriculum development, the Faculty Improvement Plan and the wider life of the school, including extracurricular opportunities. You will use a range of teaching strategies, resources and technology to stimulate curiosity, promote literacy and numeracy, and secure strong learning outcomes, whilst upholding safeguarding, behaviour and professional standards at all times.

What We're Looking For

You will be a qualified secondary teacher with strong subject knowledge and a track record of consistently good or outstanding teaching. You have a secure understanding of current curriculum requirements, effective teaching and learning strategies, and the use of assessment and data to inform practice. Confident in managing behaviour positively, you build strong relationships with students and colleagues and create an inclusive, purposeful classroom environment.

You are well organised, resilient and reflective, with a commitment to continuous professional development and to raising standards for all learners. A strong team player who can also work independently, you are enthusiastic, adaptable and aligned with the school’s values, contributing positively to the wider school community and always acting as a positive role model for students.
