About this Role

Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Behaviour Mentor to join our vibrant primary school team. This role is integral to supporting the social and emotional needs of our pupils, ensuring they flourish and reach their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with the Inclusion Team and report directly to the Assistant Headteacher responsible for Pastoral and Inclusion. This position requires a compassionate individual who can effectively collaborate with staff and contribute to a nurturing learning environment. Join us in making a significant difference in the lives of our children by fostering an inclusive and supportive school culture.

We are looking for a Learning Behaviour Mentor who has:

  • The ability to work as part of a team.

  • The ability to inspire and motivate children, leading by example.

  • Communicates effectively.

  • The ability to plan and deliver 1:1 mentoring/support sessions with identified children

  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and organisational skills.

  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

  • The ability to lead and manage change effectively.


Barnsole Primary School is a large 3-form entry school in Gillingham. Our school is spread across two sites and includes a nursery for 3-year olds. Barnsole Primary School is part of the Maritime Academy Trust, an innovative partnership of schools in Greenwich, Kent, Bexley & Medway.

Our recent successful Ofsted Inspection in February 2024 graded Barnsole as ‘Good’ which is a recognition of the all the hard work and commitment shown by the children, staff and wider community. Ofsted commented, ‘The school is a calm and orderly environment. Staff have high expectations and pupils behave well. The school aims for pupils to be resilient and have a lifelong curiosity about the world. There are high expectations for all pupils to do well.’
