Governor activities include, but are not limited to, attendance at 3 – 4 LAC (Local Academy Committee) meetings per academic year, listening to and reporting to the school’s stakeholders: pupils, parents, staff and the wider community.
Ensuring there is a broad and balanced curriculum and asking challenging questions of school leaders.
Governors should get to know the school, including occasional visits during school hours to gain a good understanding of the school’s strengths and weaknesses.
Free training is provided for the role and governors may receive out of pocket expenses, such as travel and childcare, incurred as a result of fulfilling their role.
