About this Role

SEMH Interventionist / Learning Support Assistant

Brighter Futures Educational Trust

Hours: 32 hours per week | 39 weeks per year

Grade: H6/1

Contract: Fixed-term with 6-month probation (potential to become permanent)

Brighter Futures Educational Trust is seeking a skilled and emotionally attuned SEMH Interventionist to deliver targeted, therapeutic interventions for children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

This role is ideal for someone who is confident working 1:small group and 1:1 within a planned intervention model, and who understands that behaviour is communication.

About the role

You will:

Deliver structured SEMH interventions to individuals and small groups, supporting emotional regulation, resilience and readiness to learn

Act as a key relational adult for identified students, providing consistency and emotional containment

Implement and review Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Support Plans and Risk Assessments

Track and evaluate the impact of interventions, sharing outcomes with the SENCo and wider team

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families and external agencies

Support transitions, de-escalation and regulation strategies across the school day

About you

You will:

Have experience delivering interventions to children with SEMH, ADHD and/or ASD

Understand trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to behaviour and emotional regulation

Be reflective, calm and resilient, particularly when supporting dysregulated students

Be confident working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Be committed to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
