Wraparound Care Assistant

Morning 7.45am – 8.45am

Afternoons 3.00pm – 6.00pm

The Governors of St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School, are seeking to appoint a 2 Teaching Assistant for January 2026. They are keen to accommodate the best candidates who will make a positive impact on our school and our standards. Our friendly school is part of a Federation of two schools with St Benet’s in Beccles and the wider family of Catholic school of St John the Baptist Trust.    

This temporary position is from January 2026 for 1 year with the potential to be made permanent if Wraparound care is successful.

Pay Salary: Point 4 £13.05 per hour

Hours: 20.00 per week

 

 Job description

 

Purpose of the job

-        To support the Executive Head in all aspects of running the school’s wraparound childcare provision, ensuring a safe, caring and stimulating environment for all children from Reception to Years 1-6.

 

-        To work collaboratively with the school staff to plan and deliver a range of suitable, engaging activities that promote children’s wellbeing, independence and social skills.

 

 

-        To liaise effectively with parents/carers, responding to queries and feedback professionally and appropriately.

 

-        To ensure that safeguarding, health and safety and welfare standards are upheld at all times.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2 .Relationships (including accountability)

-        The post holder is accountable to the Executive head.

 

-        To be sensitive to the needs of the children and to follow the school’s behaviour strategies and policies.

 

-        To establish and maintain productive relationships with school staff and seek to develop harmonious and warm relationships with parents, prospective parents and pupils.

 

 

3. Duties & responsibilities

·        Assist in delivering a safe, secure and stimulating environment for children in wraparound care, including ensuring Early Years and Ofsted ratios/standards are maintained.

·         Provide high level of customer service at all times

·         Plan, organise and help children with independent play and manage social relationships, in conjunction with the team.

·          Keep registers and all relevant paperwork up to date. 

.            Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety, food hygiene and to be familiar with, and work within, the required Health and Safety standards as laid out in the School’s policy and administered through the school business manager (Health and Safety Officer).

·         Deal with child related incident in a safe and sensitive way, completing appropriate paperwork.

·       Ensure areas used within school are left clean and tidy ready for their next use.

·         Attend INSET days and participate in training and other learning activities as required.

·         Ensure that any training needs are discussed with the Executive head to ensure a safe environment for all children at all times.

·         Liaise with, office staff, caretaker on any matters arising linked to the WAC provision

      To fully implement all relevant school policies, especially those linked to Safeguarding and Child Protection.

 

Person Specification:

· Experience of working in an education setting committed to the inclusion agenda.

· Knowledge and understanding of child protection and safeguarding.

· Has a friendly yet professional and respectful approach which demonstrates support     and shows mutual respect.

· Committed to the needs of the children, parents and other stakeholders and challenge  barriers and blocks to providing an effective service. Demonstrates a “can do” attitude including suggesting solutions, participating, trusting and encouraging others and achieving expectations.

· Experience of working to support children’s learning, gained in a relevant environment.

· Knowledge and understanding of First Aid

· Good communication skills.

· Very good Numeracy and literacy skills (preferably GCSE or equivalent)

· Ability to work well with children and adults.

· Good organising, time-keeping and prioritising skills.

· Methodical and good attention to detail.

· Customer focused.

· Open, honest and an active listener.

· Takes responsibility and accountability.

· Has the ability to learn from experiences and challenges.

- Maintains confidentiality in and outside the workplace.

 

Qualifications required:

·         TA Level 3

·         First Aid Certificate

·         Food Hygiene certificate (not essential)
